Dear students on the bachelor course, on master level and our PhD students, this is for you: 

You all know by now what value interpersonal skills have in the academic world and the career outside of academia and that we as a department try to incorporate as many opportunities to practice them as possible during your time with us. Here is another one! This time it’s on a greater scale and managed outside of the department.

Networking & Professional Relationships Seminar

Networking goes far beyond simply exchanging contacts. It is about building authentic professional relationships that open doors, create opportunities, and support your career development.

In this interactive session, you will:

  • Understand what networking really means – myths vs. realities
  • Learn about the “hidden job market” and how networks can support career transitions
  • Explore strategies to build and maintain meaningful professional relationships
  • Practice networking scenarios (e.g. conferences, LinkedIn messages, career fairs) and reflect on what makes a connection authentic
  • Get practical tips for LinkedIn: personal pitch, profile essentials, connecting with purpose, and online etiquette
  • Hear personal insights from the speaker’s own career journey

This session is designed to help you feel more confident, intentional, and strategic in how you connect with others – whether in academia, business, or interdisciplinary contexts.

About the EUGLOH Soft Skills Seminar Series –  Build the skills that shape the future.

The EUGLOH Soft Skills Seminar Series is an EUGLOH Career Network initiative designed by University of Porto, Lund University, University of Szeged and University of Alcalá in order to help students from all EUGLOH partner universities go beyond academic knowledge and boost the interpersonal and career readiness skills needed in todays evolving job market.

Through practical, interactive, and engaging and diverse line-up online sessions, participants will engage with career development experts and peers on essential themes such as effective communication, emotional resilience, professional networking and job interview strategies – ttopics that are increasingly relevant for employability and meaningful career building.

The series includes six live online sessions, each focusing on a different key skill:

  • November 12th  – Effective Communication in the Workplace
  • November 26th  – Teamwork and Collaboration
  • December 3rd  – Emotional Intelligence & Resilience
  • December 10th – Building Your Future: Skills, Frameworks & Tools That Matter
