Usually, at about this time of the semester, our master students struggle with their thesis work the most. So this is just a friendly reminder that there are resources that can help with a lot of the problems. Not all, of course, but a lot.
First of all: Knut hosts a writing talk, Q and A kind of thing, with me and dr Lovisa Brännstedt as representatives for writing struggles and academic writing. If you have any questions, thoughts or just want to listen to the two of us telling all the stories and sharing all the tricks for a better writing experience check out Knut’s event page.
If you need to discuss your academic writing in general or on specific points you can book an appointment with the Academic Support Centre. They do individual and group consultations and while they don’t have archaeological backgrounds or subject knowledge they do specialize in academic texts and how to improve them.
The LUX Library is also a fount of knowledge on these things. They have several seminars and drop-in events around thesis time as well. They can help with citation, reference list and other proper behavior around literature. Check out their seminar schedule here.
If you feel really stuck and your level of procrastination is affecting your general well-being the Student Health Counselling have recourses in form of videos on procrastination, lunch seminars on different health topics, and they do counselling in person online. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Contact them if you have the need.
There is no shame in getting stuck in writing. Don’t give up!
