Student symposium i Århus

STUDENT SYMPOSIUM- CALL FOR PAPERS

FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL AARHUS STUDENT SYMPOSIUM ON VIKING AND MEDIEVAL SCANDINAVIAN SUBJECTS 19TH-20TH OF MARCH 2020

We are delighted to announce the Thirteenth Annual Interdisciplinary Aarhus Student Symposium on Viking and Medieval Scandinavian Subjects. If you are a student at any level, from BA to PhD, with an interest in a topic related to Viking and Medieval Scandinavia, we hereby invite you to submit a proposal for a 20-minute paper presentation.

Areas of studies represented at the Symposium may include, but are not limited to ARCHAEOLOGY, HISTORY, LITERATURE, MYTHOLOGY, HISTORY OF RELIGION, ART HISTORY, MEMORY AND RECEPTION STUDIES.

This year we introduce the special thread: “MEMORY OF THE PAST. For this thread, we encourage you to submit abstracts relating to the concept of memory – ranging from mnemonic techniques and visualization of the past in Viking and medieval Scandinavian culture to topics like medieval historiography, reception of medieval manuscripts, and medievalism.

The Student Symposium is a great opportunity to present your research and interests to a group of academic peers, to share ideas, and to establish contacts with like-minded scholars. The only requirement for participation is that you are enrolled as a student at a university when the deadline for call for papers expires.

We encourage all interested students to send an abstract of no more than 250 words in English to the Organizing Committee no later than DECEMBER 1, 2019. The selection committee reserves the right to choose participants according to the Symposium’s standards of quality, diversity, and interdisciplinarity. Please contact us if you require any further information.

Best regards,
The Organizing Committee:
Agnes Rosendal, Anna Solovyeva, Frederikke Reimer, Johan Sandvang Larsen, Lea Grosen Jørgensen, Nikolaj Skou Haritopoulos, and Tonicha Upham
