The presentations are held once a month, in the afternoon, and anyone are welcome to join. We hope that this presents an opportunity for students, junior and senior staff at the department to meet in an informal way.

The landscape of the crofters, a way to map agency
Sara Williamsson, Historical Archaeology

Williamsson’s research project focuses on the landscape of the Swedish crofters – a heterogeneous group of rural subalterns who formed a large portion of the Swedish population in the early modern and industrial times – and what it can tell us about their agency.  In this presentation she will discuss and present how different sources (eg. maps, probate inventories, church records and the remains of the crofts) can be combined to give us a better understanding of the lives of marginalised people.

We hope to see many of you there!
