From History to Game Design

In December we have the pleasure of hosting Stéphanie-Anne Ruatta and Jonathan Dumont (see their bios below from UBISOFT Canada for a lecture called From History to Game Design: Recreating Ancient Greece with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. So mark your calendars right now!

16/12, 14:00-17:00 LUX Aula (C116)

This is what we can expect from the talk:

The Assassin’s Creed series takes imagination and ingenuity to new heights by placing a sense of historical authenticity at the heart of its gaming worlds. This seminar focuses on the procedures by which the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey team established a sense of historical authenticity in the game. It explores the relationship between research, historical references, technological conventions and game design parameters. It proposes a dive into the creative process retracing the step to reconstruct a credible and immersive Ancient Greek experience, where digital technology, gameplay interaction and historical re-enactment come together as one.

Stéphanie-Anne Ruatta, Historian
