At our faculty, over on Centre for Theology and Religious Studies (CTR), they have created a brand new course on advanced level, in English, of 7,5 credits but over the full semester. It’s focus is where the archaeological evidence meets the biblical text, and it fills out the gap between our two departments nicely. Here is what they say about it:
Through an overview of the historical and cultural contexts in which the biblical narratives were written, the course will critically examine a selection of debated narratives, described in various literary sources, and how they relate to archaeological finds and material remains.
This course combine a lot of different themes, problems, ethical dilemmas and not to mention the oldest stories of judeo-christian tradition with archaeological methods, evidence and science.
It is on advanced level so you need a bachelor degree, or if you’re a Swedish student at least a full and finished bachelor course. Since it’s over the entire semester it’s also feasible to combine with even the hardest parts of our curriculum.
I can’t find a more appropriate post to wish you all a happy Easter, or a relaxing long weekend, whatever you choose to celebrate!
