Studies in Peru

Information from Fanni Faegersten, International coordinator:

“A week ago, we received news that the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History has once again received funding from the Swedish Council for Higher Education regarding the academic cooperation and exchange with the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, in Lima, Peru. The funding makes it possible to send two students in each direction, first during Autumn 2013/Spring 2014, and then again during Autumn 2014/Spring 2015 (two years).

The Linnaeus Palme scholarship for Lund University students is 25 000 SEK per person, and the application is now open.

The scholarship holder will be welcome to take part in the Archaeological Field School at San José de Moro, a rich and highly interesting Moche site situated in northern Peru. The excavation and Field School takes place in the month of July each year (four weeks). For this excavation/Field School, the scholarship holder is awarded 7.5 ECTS credits upon return home. In addition, during the following semester, the student is welcome to study at the PUCP. Please note that all courses are offered in Spanish. Please read more in the attached information sheet (in Swedish), and find references to relevant web pages.

You are thus welcome to apply EITHER for the Field School in July 2013, followed by the Autumn semester 2013 at the PUCP OR the Spring semester 2014 at the PUCP followed by the Field School in July 2014.

Interested? Please send to me immediately, but no later than TUESDAY 9 APRIL, your name, academic background, the period of interest for you, and information on your level of the Spanish langauge (to: Fanni.Faegersten@ht.lu.se).

Don’t miss this opportunity!
